Lost Product Key
I have a laptop that I had Win98SE installed on. Went into hospital, and
hubby mucked it up so bad I decided to just format and reinstall. Got to the product key and realized I couldn't find the original case (had the disc in one of those soft sided, multi disc holder) I've searched high and low...and can't find the case. Is there a file on the Win98SE disc that has that magic number in it? Or is there something else I can do to find that number. Thanks for any help. |

Lost Product Key
The W98 disk does not contain a product key. It has a logarithm that checks
the product key that you input to ensure it is valid. Philo must have missed your comment about the format as he would not have recommended what he did since it won't work. Since MS no longer supports W98, you will have to use Google to locate a product key. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Sue Mc" Sue wrote in message ... Lost Product Key
The key has to match the kind of CD that you have: an OEM CD requires an
OEM Key and so on. I suspect that your CD is an OEM as that is what most laptops have. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Sue Mc" wrote in message ...
