Default Can not locate Product Key Information

I was in the process of upgrading my Windows 98 to Windows
XP. My son had so many games loaded on the computer, I
just did a total restore. When the system re-booted, the
system prompted me for the Windows 98 Product Key Id, but
I haven't been able to locate the book that has the
Product Key Code. Now I am stuck and can not go any
further. When I hit the "cancel" key, the system turns
itself off. Is there any other way around this or a dummy
Product Key to enter so I can complete my Windows XP
installation. I thank you in advance for assistance...VG

You don't need a W98 product key for an XP installation. Just install XP to
the clean hard disk drive. If it's an upgrade version you will be asked to
insert the W98 CD to prove that you are eligible to use that version.
