Default Printer

I recently reinstalled everything on my computer with a
newly ordered recovery cd from compaq. Now I cant get the
computer to detect my printer. I get an error message
(Waiting for windows ME file named 'hotplug.dll'. Sounds
like there's a problem with my microsoft windows. I think
that my microsoft windows ME is missing a component and
that component is not allowing the computer to
accknowledge my printer through the plug and play. I tried
plug and play on a camera and it was successful. My
printer is a all in one. It still operates on the phone
line. All cables and wires, including USB are fine. What
should I do about this.

If the printer is connecting via USB then you must install the driver
software for the printer BEFORE connecting it to the PC.
