Default IE will not download ActiveX objects

Tuesday Morn

IE will not down load ActiveX objects

I have reset the security settings to default twice

I have tried custom settings

I have repaired IE twice

I ran ME setup
And then ran windows update: all reasonable patches applied

Ran a complete local virus scan twice nothing found

Installed, updated, ran Spybot Search and Destroy nothing found

I removed some Trojan references from the startup sequence. But the related files do not seem to exist on the machine.

I have stopped/started the swap file, and system restore

I have emptied all temp files

I noticed this when attempting to run an online virus search:
MacAfee, Symantec, and Panda: no joy

Guidance please

J

May have been a mistake.

But, I could not, and can not, get IE to download activex objects.

Soon I will start from the beginning. I still am hoping to avoid it,....

That could have been a very big mistake if by this you mean you
reinstalled Win Me over itself without first removing IE6.
