Ghost removable drive
This is from an discussion I originally started on Jan 13. I had screwed up
an attempt to install a removable and although I got it working, ended up with this ghost drive. Ron asked the following question and here is the answer: The ghost is there in My Computer and Explorer. It does not appear under disk drives in Device Manager nor anywhere in a Safe boot. A right click on it in My Computer does not offer a "delete" option (nor am I sure it should, actually). Thanks, "Ron Badour" wrote in message ... And this shows up where--Windows Explorer? Have you had a look in control panel, device manager to see what's listed? If nothing is unusual, try looking there after booting in safe mode. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo |

Ghost removable drive
It might be normal to see a ghost in your circumstance. Jonny sees them! Look through the docs/readme/internet site of your removable drive manufacturer.
Is anything there, ghost or no, when you remove the drive? Is the drive accessible in Safe Mode, when the ghost is not there? Could be the ghost disappears in Safe Mode because a different driver is used to access it. (1) "START button, Run, MSInfo32". Use CTRL-Mouse to highlight relevant info & the Edit menu to Copy it...
