Default Configuration in Windows for Acrobat Reader.

I have a problem with the way Acrobat Reader is working. I am pretty sure it
is the way Explorer is configured or it is a Registry entry that isn't as it
should be. If I am in the incorrect forum then please advise the correct
one.
I have Acrobat Reader 6 installed on the system. However there are some
Registry entries for Reader 5 as well.
Problem. If I click on a Acrobat Reader file on a web site, the file is
downloaded and the reader is opened but an error message comes up that the
file cannot be opened as a file is missing.
However,if I download the same file and save it, open the same version of
Reader and then locate the file from within the Reader, it opens OK. Any
ideas what the fault is. Thanks.
Alan

Default Configuration in Windows for Acrobat Reader.

If you have an older version of Acrobat or Adobe Reader installed (in this case
version 5.x), remove it by using ControlPanel Add/Remove Programs.

Then, reinstall Acrobat Reader 6.

Could there be a problem with your browser's Acrobat plugin?

Default Configuration in Windows for Acrobat Reader.

Start Acrobat, click "Edit", "Preferences", highlight "Internet" and make sure
that "Display PDF in browser" is checked. In not, check it and click "OK".

Thanks for all your suggestions. I have in fact tried to uninstall anything
Adobe Acrobat and found that after uninstalling via Add/Remove, there
appears to be a lot of unconnected files and folders left for different
editions of Adobe. I am at present deleting manually and then I will move
onto the Registry. It is also somewhat complicated by having four different
profiles/logins on the PC so I am having to go through all the profiles to
ensure everything is removed.

Right, removed everything concerned directly with Adobe and reloaded Acrobat
6.0 in all profiles. Unfortunately, the problem still exists with the
download from this particular website. (I went to a completely different web
site and down loaded a PDF from them perfectly ok). So it looks like a
problem with this site, whatever it is.
