1. Theory is explained in
/ start / help / index
where you enter
ASSOCIATING FILE TYPES . . .

2. Practice. It is a bad idea to associate
file type SYS with any program at all. So
simply remove this particular file association.

The full list of all programs currrently running is
provided by
MSINFO32.EXE / Software Environment / Running Tasks
and
MSINFO32.EXE / Software Environment / Running Tasks
(latter also shown by Ctl Alt Del.)

Post again here to explain the purpose of your
file named LOG.SYS.

Read the Help file about
Associating Files with Programs. Go via
EXPLORER (My Computer) /View / Folder Options / Filetypes
and if you find any such association for *.SYS
delete it.

MSINFO32.EXE / Software Environment / Running Tasks

MSINFO32.EXE / Software Environment / Startup Programs
(latter also shown by Ctl Alt Del.)

This must be done separately for each program
(and may be impossible for those that are components
of the Windows OS.)
