Default VFAT

Error message "VFAT Drive initialization failed. A device or resource
required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue
loading. System halted".

I have a KB with ID 190110 which may help me but at the error says the
system is halted. The work around requires system changes. Windows will
not load - the Safe Mode window comes on, but the system is dead, nothing
can be accessed, no mouse, not cursor, nothing.

I tried to reload windows, but that did not work. If anyone has an idea how
I can get windows to open I would appreciate the information.

Regards,
Pat Miller

is your harddisk identified correctly in the BIOS ?

can you use a bootdisk to get to DOS ? try running "scanreg /restore" to use
a previous registry

See if the computer has a hidden, system file called "c:\winboot.ini".
If so, delete it. Also, make sure there is a valid "c:\msdos.sys" file,
something like this:

[Paths]
WinDir=3DC:\WINDOWS
WinBootDir=3DC:\WINDOWS
HostWinBootDrv=3DC
[Options]
BootGUI=3D1
;end
