Default FORGOTTEN PASSWORD

I HAVE TRIED TO FOLLOW THE "RESETTING USER PASSWORDS" INFO PROVIDED BY MART
TO MY REQUEST IN JULY.

We left our home for six weeks - I put a password (that I thought would be
helpful) on our computer -- however, I cannot remember my password.

I have tried to access "Computer Management" as in the directions to reset
the forgotten password by going through "Start", "Control Panel" -- there is
no option in my control panel called "PERFORMANCE & MAINTENANCE", (the next
step I'm supposed to take) -- How do I get to "PERFORMANCE & MAINTENANCE" so
I can get to Computer Management??

thanks again

If your password is in the BIOS, then remove the BIOS battery & leave it
overnight and all the BIOS settings will have been reset.
Your OS IS Windows ME presumably?
To remove passwords in ME, do a search on your hard drive for .pwl
files, and rename to .pw0
pwl files are password list files.
You will then find that all passwords will have to be re-entered from
scratch, including your internet passwords..
Regards Mike.
