Default Address Bar in Internet Explorer

The Address Bar in Internet Explorer is too wide for me as it occupies
needlessly most of the Task Bar. Is it possible to reduce this?

Thank you but I am unable to find any help from the desktop
folder/appearance. I am not sure that I've followed your instructions
correctly, ie show Desktop, right click, click Properties, see
settings for Windows appearance. Which of these relates to the Address
Bar?

Position the mouse pointer on the word "Address",
Depress and hold the left mouse button.
The pointer will change to a 4-directional arrowhead pointer.
Drag the mouse pointer up over the Button bar to the right hand side
of the Menu bar, then drag it left or right as you please.
When you are satisfied, let go.

You can do the same thing with the Views box in Outlook Express.

Thank you very much, but the last posting enabled me to size the
Address Bar to my requirements I am happy to say. Thank you all very
much for very effective help. It is astonishing that this is not
included in IE Help. I've cursed the ridiculously large Address Bar
for years needlessly.

You are welcome. Glad to help.

It is, actually.
