"Gary S. Terhune" wrote in message ... It's a possibility, and one that most Spyware/Adware/Trojan scanners look for. But the problem isn't just sites that shouldn't be Trusted getting added to the list. The really *nasty* problem is when invaders hack into a site that really *should* be able to be trusted--Microsoft.com, or your online banking site. the invaders can then get into your system via the supposedly trusted site. Too much effort. The new gimmick is "the Evil Twin", something that people don't need to concern themselves with, just as long as they NEVER transmit ANY sensitive data wirelessly. |

Not that it would surprise me if they could and/or had been, but I only used them as one example of sites that I have heretofore put into my Trusted Zone for the sake of convenience. I no longer put any remote sites into my Trusted Zone. Microsft Korea, Microsoft Mexico and the home sweet home site, Microsoft Redmond have all been hacked, some sites more than once. |

I kind of assumed so, s. What I don't know is if they were used by the
specific exploit I was thinking of, where they actually inserted malicious code into MS pages. (Nor was I ready to cite instances.) -- Gary S. I'm not a fan of wireless. Don't think it's likely I ever will be. Talk

Hi Gary, The cookie blocking - Now I am on the settings you suggested obviously we keep getting prompts (which can be a bit of a pain) and we could not log on to ebay at all, haven't tried ebuyer yet where we buy computer stuff. Do you adjust the settings as you need to or is there a "cunning plan" Again thanks for your help Steve. |

Steve, have you considered downloading Mozilla Firefox. It does not have the
ActiveX vulnerabilities that are found in Internet Explorer and I use it all the time. I only use Internet Explorer on the sites that I need to now like Windows Update and sometimes for an msnbc.com news article. Dan thanks to you and Gary,
Does Gary "ever" go out?? I have only just read all the reply's to my post, as I intended to post this as a reply to my temp and temp int files post that Gary and yourself had been working on for me. I had wondered where it had gone (thought I'd lost it!!!!!) Will look into the MF download, but as I keep saying to you guys "I'm only a learner" Will look up what ActiveX is , but you can tell me if you want. Cheers Steve. "Dan" wrote in message ... You're welcome Steve and I will let Gary or another qualified person explain
Active X because they could explain it better than I can. ... Dan thanks to you and Gary, Does Gary "ever" go out?? No, he doesn't. Lives and works at home. Only time he leaves is to go to his other house five blocks up the same street, which he's renovating and hoping to move into within about 6 weeks (though he's been saying that since purchasing the place in September.) Also to go to the Post Office, two blocks away, or Safeway, two blocks in the other direction. Having a wife and three occasionally present daughters, two businesses to run (one of which offers occasional need to visit sick computers elsewhere) and 6 toy poodles inside, plus a sled dog in the yard, he has plenty to keep him busy. Working at home also means no need to keep regular hours, not that he's ever been much of one to keep regular hours, anyway. As for ActiveX, you might want to start he http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/ActiveX.html -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP Shell/User |
