Copy files, preserving timestamp : exact copy!
Folks:
I'm trying to clean up a Win98SE system that belongs to a non-profit childcare organization. Files have accumulated in a big heap, need some organization. What I want to do is make exact copies of the contents of a directory into a new directory where I'll do the organizing. Everything I have tried so far, including DOS command-line xcopy, changes at least one of the created/modified/accessed dates. I want the the created, modified, accessed file dates to _stay_ _the_ _same_ so I can preserve the original date order of the files. How? I _think_ there's a way of doing this with pkzip, where you tell it to preserve all the file dates in the .zip file, but I don't have pkzip on this machine and it is a bit of trouble to get it. Is there a way to copy files, preserving the original created, modified, accessed dates with a stock Win98 system? If not, what's the most robust add-on that will do the trick? Thanks, Henry don't sleep |

You need PKZIP or something similar to move the files intact.
