You can change the sound played for any sound event whether it be Windows
starting and finishing, an e-mail delivery (You've got mail) or even the
sound on an error where perhaps a big raspberry might sometimes be
appropriate.

Control Panel, Sounds and Multimedia, click the Sounds tab and you will
find the various sound events that have been configured (adding others is
possible but that's another story). Highlight the sound event you want to
change, and then click Browse and navigate to the location of the new
sound file you wish to play for that sound event. Repeat for each sound
event. Then click Apply. If you want to save the new sound scheme so you
don't have to reconstruct in the event of problems in the future then
click Save As and give it a name.

To add to Mike's response - if you get the WMP bonus pack for XP, there's a
file called fart.wav you could use.

LOL.

Remind me never again to suggest that a user change the sound event for a
failure to a big raspberry.

Hi,
You can change the windows starting sound through control
panel, then look for sounds and multimedia. Then look for
the sound tab. Then scroll down to see the start windows
it should have a little speaker by it. There you will
find the windows start up sound. Just change it to
whatever sound you want in the list. For windows Me
only. Don't know about XP. Hope that helps. Bruce
