Default Unable to go internet

Hi, I use a Dell GX150 computer with Win98SE, Motorola SB4100 cable
modem, SMC 7004ABR broadband router for accessing the internet.

I could not run MSN Messenger voice communication from Singapore to
an overseas country (but can talk to two friends in Singapore
itself!) (I even disable firewall but still cannot). So I connect
the usb cable from Dell pc to the SB4100 usb port. The Dell
recognise the SB4100 and installed the driver.

I check the network settings, there is tcp/ip--motorola SB4100,
everything as it should according to the installation manual.

When I run winipcfg, I do not get an ip address... Only the 169.254
one. Rebooted pc severla times-- no ip address.

Remove the SB4100 drivers, remove tcp/ip. Re-installed , still
can't get any ip addresses.

So I revert the configuration to the previous one- all PCs
connected to the SMC 7004ABR. SB4100 ethernet to the WAN port of
SMC router.

The other Acer computer can accessed the internet.

The Dell GX150 could not.

When I click on Mozilla Firefox, I got an error message. Same for
IE6. Same goes for Mozilla internet suite.

I checked the winipcfg-- there is ip address. I could ping the
router and I could ping the other pc. I could even copy files from
shared folders.

I am very puzzled!!!
