Default promise ultra 133 TX2 (tm) IDE controller

I have installed a control card for the second hard drive
and it tells me in the control panel, (yellow mark)!win9x-
me promise ultra 133 TX2 (tm) IDE controller. It says that
windows has chosen not to use this driver. So now what do
I do? I contacted the Promise company and they gave me
another driver to use. It still halts my system if it uses
it.
My windowsME system still halts with the message..
"Either memory is insufficient to run KRNL386.exe or the
value of the window mem size system.ini file is too Large.
You need to run setup program again. System halted. " it
is the same message as the first file. I have 512 memory.
I have run setup again, but I don't see how that'll help
anyway cause Windowsme goes back a few years and the card
is newer than that.. i think..
As it stands the Hard drive is running via msdos, i
think..Maybe I don't need an extra driver at all?
Also, when I installed the second hard drive, I copied
everything from the other, so that I could enable the
newer one to be my primary. Changed the ribbon, etc.. Then
I deleted everything that was on the smaller old hard
drive. and reformatted it. was that was I was supposed to
do? or was something supposed to stay on that one, when I
installed the new hard drive using the software that came
with it?
One more question.. After I get all of this resolved.. how
can I copy all of windows, it's updates that I download
and install automatically.. drivers.. everything to a cd,
so that if I have to reset, reinstall everything again, I
can just use that one, rather than having to go through
hunting it all down again? Thanks, lynda

Why are you using the Promise card? Motherboards usually come with two IDE
connections that can support four IDE devices.

Lynda
There should be no problems with the Promise card (I use a Promise 66 card
myself on my ME box) but....
Try this first
Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL entries for the Promise card
Reboot to Normal Mode
Windows should reinstall the required drivers and ask for another reboot -
see if that helps.

your procedure WRT the old and new drives is correct - but personally, I'd
have left the data on the old one for a while until the new one was proven
OK.

For your error message, I'm a little worried, as it seems to relate to a
very old memory manager - and memory managers and ME don't mix!! If you have
any memory managers/optimisers installed - then uninstall them!
Do you use any registry cleaners? (don't! is my general recommendation) - if
so, which?
If you 'd like to email me a copy of your c:\windows\system.ini file, then
I'll take a look at it, and see what I can see.
