Unable to play winamp, error message : "waveOut output v2.0.2a err
Dear All,
Whenever I tried to play songs in winamp the following error message appeared: waveOut output v2.0.2a error Unsupported PCM format (44100Hz, 16 bits per sample, 2 channels) Please change format settings in input plug-in configuration or change output device in waveOut plug-in configuration. Error code 32 Windows error message "MMSYSTEM032 The specified format cannot be translated or supported. Use the capabilities function to view support formats." I have submitted my problems before to the newsgroup on this page and have received several professional advices to rectify the problems but none seem to be working. I have done the following: 1. Delete the current winamp and re-installed it. Have done several times but received same error message. 2. Have deleted and upgraded to a newer version of winamp, etc. Please kindly advice (refer to error message): 1."How to change format settings in input plug-in configuration or change output devce in waveOut plug-in configuration" 2.Use the capabilities function to view support formats in MMSYSTEM032 The specified format cannot be translated or supprted. I believed if I can change the above configuration it will works. Please advice how to do it. Before I do not have this problem, only recently. Could it be worms, virus or something I accidentally delete or change configurations. I can't remember exactly but I do remembered accidentally change some configuration when the pop-up windows appeared by pressing OK. Do I need to re-install Win98SE again. Any other good advice to help. Thank you. |

Hi Glee & dadioOH,
Thank you guys, for your valuable time, effort & advices. I am now able to play song with the winamp. It is a very good feeling to be able to play song with the winamp and hearing the songs again. When dadiOH wrote: There is nothing wrong with the POP 44100Hz, 16 bits per sample.....I suspect glee is correct regarding sound card driver. What I done was while I re-installed the sound card driver, I noticed that the playback device, Recording device were not in the system. So I re-installed the CD player, MIDI player, Mixer and sound card driver whatever on the cd. After installing all this, I tried to play the song with winamp, and the sound came out loud and clear. I was temporary shock to hear the sound / songs. Thank you guys.
