Default New folder mystery

Hi,

I was looked through Windows Explorer and noticed I have a
new folder called WINDOWS000 in C drive. I didn't create
this folder, so my computer must have created it. The
folder contains no files but one folder called Temp. The
Temp folder has no files in it either. Why did my
computer create this folder? Is it okay to delete it?

Yes, it's safe. It was created by scandisk somewhere along the line.

More likely something else; usually a re-install where there's
same-name ambiguities to be resolved. ChkDsk, Scandisk and Norton
Disk Doctor do spawn dirs in the root of the volume with arbitrary
names, when they recover subdirs that have no entry pointing to them,
but they don't use names like C:\WINDOWS.000

....got to pick up on a word in your quote there... "Humility" is a quality
probably posessed by ALL mvp's except one, (...and that observation was NOT
aimed at cquirke :-)

That tag's a bitch to live up to, especially if you have a natural
tendency to suffer bad advice poorly, as I do. In a way, I use the
tag to trigger an early response shoul *I* ever get un-humble.

Nah... that would never happen... g
