w95 to w98 upgrade - help PLEASE

I infer that your friend has a full installation disk and that the
Setup program spotted the presence of Win95 and is pointing out that
your friend is upgrading. I doubt that the presence of Win95 will
cause any trouble with the Win98 installation and so your friend could
install Win98 directly on top of the Win95 installation. Your friend
should go into the Win95 folder and rename the file that is named
Win.com to something else, say Win.coz. I thin that Win98's Setup
program will then (mistakenly) infer that Win95 is not present.

However, it might be safer to install Win98 into a new empty folder.
This would also eliminate any software fossils being carried over
unnecessarily from Win95 to Win98. Rename Win.com to Win.coz (as
stated above) and also rename the folder that holds Win95.
