Thanks for the recommendations, Alias. I may follow them. with the
extra HD,
but definitely will try the exploration method you describe.
Let you know how I made out, when the time comes.
Muchos gracias (did I say that right?)

Almost, Harry.....try *abrazos y besos grandes*.

Isn't it more like *obras y brazos grandes*?
As if I knew what any of this means.
Better keep my hands off it and stick to my two *native* languages, german
and english.
Vielen dankmany thanks and *good night*.
My sheep are waiting to be counted. H.

.....Alias might like
that.

Chuckle....see Loon?? Spanish comes in handy. As well as French. Mind
you, that phrase is what a cousin in Espana always says to me and I
think it is kind of sweet.

OH.....Harry....forgot to mention that WinME does NOT like that MRU
program that Shane is talking about. I tried it and had to take it off
back in the olden days.

Cheers......Figgs

No need for me to bother with 'MRU', Figgs, I've got *nothing* to hide and
plenty of room.

If I am not mistaken, a couple of weeks ago you asked for my

notification
in this case and here it is:
My CD from "Ubuntu" has arrived and earlier as they projected, but as

you
already had suggested.
Will have to decide the best way to install it on my machine with an

80BG
HD, partitioned into C,D,E and F, with C=20, D=15, E=15 and F=30 GB's.

E&F
are completely free right now.
Maybe you or someone else here has a profitable idea.
The CD with "Linux" OS on it was mailed to me for free all the way from
Africa and to everyone's information here, I would like to mention the
meaning of the word "Ubuntu", it is: "Humanity To Others". In addition I

am
free to edit, copy or distribute the CD as I would wish. What an

enormous
generosity.
Thanks for pointing me to it, Alias.

Harry.

Set your BIOS to boot from the CD. Insert the Ubuntu CD before you leave
the BIOS. You can then take a live tour without installing it and see
how you like it. It will also check out your PC for compatibility. I
would recommend installing it on second hard drive because, that way, if
one drive goes, you still have the other and don't lose both OSes
simultaneously.

It's "muchas", not "muchos" but I get the idea. De nada :-) I look
forward to your opinion on Ubuntu.

Really close, as Heather said, will try and remember it.
The dry-run of 'ubuntu' was successful and to my satisfaction.
After eight years of IE it will take some time to get used to the linux
browser, which is firefox, but it will be by itself, without interfering in
any way. Once another HD is installed and ubuntu on it, I'll let you know.
One can always upgrade, if so desired.
That was a good idea, Alias, muchas gracias.

Harry.

That all depends......if it was now, he wouldn't notice. If it was back
in the *olden days*, well, you should be able to remember your own olden
days, eh? You are getting up there, old sock!! (VBG)

Well, I spent five days installing and configuring XP Pro. I just
installed a second hard drive and install Ubuntu, 238 updates, and 20
programs in one hour and 50 minutes.

Can't wait to run "ubuntu", Alias.
If ye' all would see it, you definitely would like it too, I'm sure.

Harry.
