XP and 98 pc can't connect to each other
| "James" wrote in message | ... | I'm sure I've just overlooked something really daft, but the problem I've | been having is that an XP and a 98 machine directly connected to each other | can't connect. I know the cable works, and I know that the cards work as all | of this has been tested. I also know that the config of the cards is correct | because each card has had my broadband connection linked into it as a test | which worked. | | When directly linked to each other, the 2 network cards don't even show | the link light on the network cards. I've been tearing my hair out. Anyone | got any ideas?? "Papa" wrote in message ... | Use a CAT 5 crossover cable, not the straight through version. I'm having the same problem and I *do* have a cross over cable. (the lights work and the cable is known to be good) |
