Anyone have installation disks for Windows ME for sale??

I have an OEM computer. The installation image got damaged and I
don't have installation disks to reinstall Windows ME.

I'd be willing to pay for installation disks. I have Paypal.

Thanks.

Before you go down that path, you *might* just be lucky and already have a
complete set of installation files still on your existing 'working' WinMe
system (subject to your OEM allowing the option to be installed/copied in
the first place).

Search for a folder (normally c:\windows\options\install or CABS, but may be
elsewhere - or not at all with some OEM's) containing a dozen or so .CAB
files (.CAB_10,11,12 etc.) and includes a setup.exe file. The size of the
folder being about 157Mb.

If you have this folder, then you have a complete set of installation files
and you need to copy/burn them (the complete folder) to a CD. You will then
have your own WinMe installation disk.

Along with the setup.exe file there is also a setup.txt file which is well
worth reading and you should also look at (and print out) cleanhd.txt - a
copy of which you can see here :-
"Windows Millennium Edition Cleanhd.txt File Contents"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271673/en-us

Also, be sure that you've still got a copy of the 25 digit product key,
before you start and any 'machine specific' drivers (often on a separate CD)
which *may* have come with your PC. (Don't worry too much if you haven't any
drivers as there's usually some work-around available)

Good luck - otherwise its Plan A, buy them!

Thanks anyway. But, I already know I don't have the CABS and I also
don't have a CD-burner.

I know I may be pushing the Linux thing but you could order one and it
would cost less than $10.00 and sense you cannot mess your operating
system up at this point,

Here is one description: PCLinuxOS is an English only live CD that
runs entirely from a bootable CD. Data on the CD is uncompressed on
the fly, allowing up to 2GB of programs on one CD including a complete
X server, KDE desktop, OpenOffice.org and many more applications all
ready to use. In addition to the live CD, you can also install
PCLinuxOS to your hard drive with an easy-to-use livecd-installer.
Additional applications can be added or removed from your hard drive
using a friendly apt-get front end via Synaptic.

If you could find a way to burn it I could put WinMe on a file storage
space. But it sounds like Mart may send it to you.
