Reformatting

How do I go about reformatting my PC? I have a 500mhz, 384mb RAM Compaq
Presario in my room that is messing up and wont even boot right. It needs a
clean sweep anyways because I have so much crap on it, and I have a Windows
98 install disc so I just need to format. I can get into the dos, and thats
about it. So whats the commands(safe way) to do it and how do I reinstall
Windows 98? Thanks for any help!

If you have a Compaq restore CD, you need to read the documentation for it.
If you have a W98 CD, go he

Well, I formatted the PC and rebooted with my Win98 CD in the drive. It
showed up in MS-Dos asking to run the setup on the CD. So I did, now it's
saying there is already a operating system installed though? And it wont let
me install Windows 98.. I did a format, using format c: /s ..

Hi Ryan,

The "already an operating system installed" problem *might* be due to your
having transferred the system files (the /s switch) following the format.
Try running format without the /s switch and see if you are then able to
succesfully install WIN98.
