Default retrieving a lost document

My granddaughter was finishing a document for homework
when my computer crashed. She was using the word
processor on my computer (HP Pavillion 6355 - 6 years
old) when the computer crashed. Does anyone know how to
retrieve this document? Thanks. I need an answer asap.

Which word processor was she using? If it was either Word ( not to be confused with
MS Word which is different ) or Notepad and she didn't frequently save, it is
probably lost. If it was MS Word ( an MS Office application ) and you had it set to
autosave every X# of minutes or set to always create a backup, then it would still be
on the drive and contain the data up to the last autosave.

Click Start Find Folders/Files
In the Named box type the name or partial name of the file and search the drive to
see if it can be located.
