Windows ME problem on laptop
Hi All,
I have a very big problem with my laptop us WinME OS. I last used it 4 days ago, but I guessed I did not do a proper shutdown. ie just turn off the 3 pin power but I do not feel this is the main cause. Now, upon powering up, it goes to WinME welcome screen followed by a startup menu. When I choose "normal" mode as startup, it go to a blank screen. (WINDOW CANNOT INITIALIZED!). When I press "ALT"+"CTRL"+"DEL" once the Error reads "Press Enter to return to Windows, Press "ALT"+"CTRL"+"DEL" to restart your computer. If you do this this you will lose any unsaved information in all open application. Error : 0D:F000:000040A1. When I press "Enter", the Error reads: "Press Enter to return to Windows, Press "ALT"+"CTRL"+"DEL" to restart your computer. If you do this this you will lose any unsaved information in all open application. FileName : Vwin32(01) + 000015E6 Error :0E : 0028 : C0030D12. When I press enter again. the error reads : "An exception 0E has occured at 0028:C006115D in VxD VNETBIOS(01) + 00000B8D. This was called from 0028:C023F58B in VxD VMM(0C) + 0000058B. It may be possible to continue normally. *Press any key to attempt to continue. *Press "ALT"+"CTRL"+"DEL" to restart your computer. You will lose any unsaved information in all open application. """ When I press any key the laptop proceed to blank screen. The system halted up. Press "ALT"+"CTRL"+"DEL" also not effective now. You need to off the laptop totally. Action : I have do a Scanreg/restore under save mode but still unable to go to normal mode. So what is wrong ? Can anyone assist? Thanks! |

| I have do a Scanreg/restore under save mode but still | unable to go to normal mode. Your registry* is already bad, "restore" in safe mode cannot work. U need to either [i] restore * via dos ( boot fr CD / floppy, then go to e.g. c:\win-me\command, run scanreg.exe, or [ii] use another hdd ( easy on desktop pc ) to boot into GUI, run Explorer then expand 1 of your registry cab files, drag the 5 files therein into your WinME directory. |

Try posting to an ME newsgroup where there are experts on that system:
