Default W98SE Connection to Internet IE6 Broadband

I cannot connect one of my computers (I have 4 connected to a Draytek
Vigor2600) to the Internet although I am sure I have connected this computer
before.
It is connected direct to one of the Vigor ports (as opposed to a connected
switch) that one of my other computers successfully used today. It has also
failed when connected to switch although the switch connection is OK as
proved by another computer.
All 4 computers are successfully connected to my own local network and the
other 3 computers have successfully connected to the internet today.
From a DOS prompt Ipconfig shows192.168.1.10 with gateway of 192.168.1.1
From the first screen for this new connection the message is:

""""Microsoft Internet Explorer
! An unexpected error has occurred. Please call MSN technical Support.""""

PS In configuring the Network thru Control Panel I cannot get "Dial-Up
Adapter" into the configuration panel - this has never happened to me before
over many years. Can this be because I have removed the redundant Modem?
Help please.

Does the error screen happen to provide more information? An error code? Is
there a 'details' or 'more information' or similar link on the error window
that you could use to gather more info about the error(s)?

NO. The error message is as I showed it within apostrophes.

I'm afraid you will have to do what is asked; contact MSN Technical support.
Maybe they're computer mind readers, but I'm not (
