Default Mapping a Win 2000 network drive.

We're having some trouble with a user at a remote site that cannot map a
network drive on our domain. The user connects to our domain via VPN
connection from his Win 98SE desktop.

The command that he is trying to use is (from a command prompt):
net use drive_letter: \\file_server_ip\shared_drive_name
/user:domain\account

The error that he is receiving is that the user account is not recognised.
We have tried both a short domain name, and the fully qualified one.

Is there anything that we're obviously doing wrong?
