Default hardware installation

I am posting this again as I still need help. Please..
thanks.
I am trying to install a router but the system tells me
that a previous installation has not been completed and
tells me to reboot the system to complete it. I did so a
few times but the mesaage stll comes up. I did install an
ethernet card for my new high speed inrtenet connection.
But as far as I know it the installation was completed
successfully as the internet connection is now working.
Question: How will I find the "unsuccessful" installation,
if any. How can I go ahead with the nes installation.
I have a Window ME. The router is Wireless Base Station
(MN-700)
Thank you.

Please stick to the original thread, Jess - people are watching it - and I
posted a response there yesterday

Thanks. I read your response also yesterday, tried it, but
it did not work. Do you have any other idea. Much
appreciated. By the way, I am new here and I do not know
the protocol Sorry if it offends.

General "protocol" - one message thread per person per problem; that way
everybody knows what's going on and for instance you don't get the same
advice twice... though I gotta ask; did you try renaming wininit.ini to
something else? and you get the same "update didn't complete message"
the next time you rebooted ? That's odd.
