Favorites
There are duplicate "Favorites" folders in Windows Explorer. One in the Windows folder and one in "My Documents."
"My Documents" is up to date whereas the Windows Favorites only lists up to a year ago or so. Can I delete the Windows Favorites folder? Sasha |

Sash,
1. As your most recent request for help came in 20 minutes after responses to your first request, I'm wondering if you can see the responses. 2. You used your true email address in your newsgroup posts. I have to warn you that newsgroups get "harvested" for email addresses which are then used as bogus addresses in spam and virus-spreading emails. Best to use a fake address, like , an address that can't *possibly* be real. 3. To get better use of the newsgroup, if you aren't already, use a direct connection to Microsoft Newsgroups by logging on to news://msnews.microsoft.com. This newsgroup is: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...gen_discussion 4. Please use "Plain Text", not HTML, to post to these newsgroups. The setting is on the "Compose" tab of Outlook Express options. I emailed this in addition to posting, but please reply to the newsgroup, not my email. I won't be here for the rest of the day. (I use my real email because it's a dedicated account, only for newsgroup posting, and I accept the attendant problems as a public service.) Here is the answer I posted earlier, slightly edited: The original location for the Favorites folder for a single-user 9x system is C:\Windows\Favorites. If it's a multi-user system, it's C:\Windows\Profiles\{Username}\Favorites. (In Win2000 and XP they're in entirely different locations.) A Favorites folder inside C:\My Documents\ is *not* a normal location. However, things can happen, and if what shows in your Internet Explorer Favorites menu is the same as what is in the "C:\My Documents\Favorites" folder, then the other one (C:\Windows\Favorites) can be safely emptied or deleted entirely. But make sure you're looking at C:\My Documents in Windows Explorer, not some other rendition of My Documents. Windows plays a lot of games with My Documents and other folders, where what you see is not necessarily what is really there. -- Gary S.
