Default "MMLOCUSR.DLL" Error..

I have had a hard time with my computer as of late. After
using the computer for a while, and you try to click on
the taskbar to go to something, it'll dissappear, and then
Windows will no longer function correctly. Then I have to
re-start the computer, and everything will be pretty much
okay until the taskbar dissappears again.

Today, when I opened my Internet Explorer, I was bombarded
with pop-up ads, and then my computer froze again, so I
had to re-start it. When I did, I received this error
message:

"Explorer has caused an error in
MMLOCUSR.DLL.
Explorer will now close.

If you continue to experience problems,
try restarting your computer."

So I clicked the close button, and everything dissappeared
except for my desktop, and nothing worked. So I re-
started it again, and I got the same message. I have done
this several times now, and I keep getting the same error
message. What should I do? It seems like my computer
won't function like it's supposed to anymore.

Thank you so much!

Default "MMLOCUSR.DLL" Error..

Win Me contains no file named MMLOCUSR.DLL nor can I find any references to a
file with such a name on the net which leads me to believe that it is
malicious and that your PC is infected with malware of some sort, possibly a
trojan or virus but more likely a commercial parasite.

When did you last check your system for malware using your preferred antivirus
application making sure first that you are using an updated current set of
viral reference signatures?

This would be a good time to download yourself a copy of the free Ad-Aware 6.0
from Lavasoft (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and also SpyBot
Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) and use them to check your
system for other commercial parasites remembering that they are only as good
as when you last updated their reference files. I also use a program called
BHODemon (http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm that checks for
unwanted Browser Help Objects and SpywareBlaster
(http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html) which can help prevent
some parasites getting a grip on your PC.

Then there is CWShredder
(http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip or
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip) which is the best way
of getting rid of the many forms of the CoolWebSearch hijacker details of
which can be found at http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html
and also http://www.pestpatrol.com/pestinfo/c/cws.asp..

Finally if you still continue to experience problems download a copy of
HijackThis from (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html). Create a
folder called hijackthis on C: and copy the file you downloaded to that
folder. Close as many applications as you can including all instances of
Internet Explorer and then run hijackthis.exe and post back the log to either
the HijackThis Forum at
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or alternatively
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30 and hopefully this will enable
someone to identify the cause of your problem.
