It is strongly recommended that you do not use your real email address, either make up a totally fictitious one or muck up your current one so it can not be harvested by bots. Many just insert NOSPAM or something similar somewhere in their address. If you make one up, be certain that it couldn't possibly be some other person's address. Next, sadly, OE has to be the default e-mail client to function properly as a newsreader. MM |

As MM mentioned, you need to setup the sender information (again, as MM
mentioned, DO NOT use your real e-mail address will do) This can be done by going to Tools Accounts News Select the Microsoft entry and click "Properties" On the General tab, enter a name/nickname, and an e-mail address... click Apply OK Close -- Regards Steven Burn Ur I.T. OE has to be set as default news client to work properly (in IE Settings,
Connections tab, or in OE Options, General tab), but I've never heard of it having to be the default email client--in fact Outlook users have OL as email client and OE as news client. Am I missing something? Hi, Well, the only time I tried OE as a newsreader with a different default mail client-Eudora-, it didn't work so well. Oh, it downloaded messages just fine, but when I tried to send a message it opened Eudora instead. The only way I could get it to stop doing that was to make OE the default email client. I don't recall if OE was the designated newsreader, I hadn't fiddled with that so I would assume it was set at whatever it is on a "fresh install", I'm just guessing that was OE. My memory is a little hazy, but I seem to recall a grayed-out option until OE was set as default for mail. Anyway, that was version 5 something, and I have since uninstalled OE and moved on to something different. MM |
