Look for the Win Me cab files and setup.exe in either
C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or C:\Windows\Options\Install. If not found look for the file BASE2.CAB on your PC. When you have located the cab set save to a CD as this will then allow you to reinstall Win Me. If reinstalling Win Me over itself it is essential to first a) uninstall IE6 (if you upgraded from IE5.5) and b) to rename the file wmploc.dll to wmploc.old if you have installed Windows Media Player 9. Finally, if you do reinstall Win Me over itself I would suggest that you download and run the Belarc Advisor (http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html) which will help you in identifying which critical updates and other patches have been broken by the reinstall and need to be reinstalled. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Forrest F. | JRWR | Woody wrote: i got winme OEM and i lost the restore disks and was asking is there a way to reinstall windows over it self Via the OEM cabs |

I installed over-the-top from the HD and:
Noel's Site worked wonders in my situation. Noel,Thank-You very much for the site !! Also, very useful is; the information given by "Zee". And that is to delete all files in the "Program Files| Internet Explorer|Uninstall" Folder. That was very helpful as well, before I re-installed IE 6. Sincerely, Brian W.
