Default Too many programs running in background

Can someone please tell me how to remove most of my TSR
programs, they are hoging up my memory, my computer is
very slow and i sometime get an error message stating that
I don't have enought mmemory to run that program, can
someone help me? Please...

Start run msconfig startup and uncheck or remove the offending
program.
