I can not connect to newsgroups in outlook express or
netscape mail-news. I can recieve mail but get an error code 480 authtication required. I checked settings and all seem to be correct

Which server are you attempting to connect to? who is your ISP? - can you

I'm useing alltel.net as my server DSL type connection. Ihave no problem connecting to my server and I cna recieve my Email with no problem just when I try to use my newsgroups thru outlook express or netscapse newsgroups.

Ah - there's the snippet that makes the difference!
