Default Prevent powerdown at shutdown.

Does anybody know how to prevent W98SE to power off after shutdown? I
prefer the system wait in 'It's safe to turn off the computer'

It's an ACPI motherboard, and I cannot disable ACPI in bios.
In devicemanager there is an 'ACPI interface', but I can't disable it. I
can delete it, but windows will find it again.

In 'Power management' I can only configure the idle time after which the
screen and the disk will power off.

For NT4 there was a registry key to enable power off. I suppose there must
be a key in 98 to prevent it.

Because the setting isn't there.

What BIOS and version is it? Is it a proprietary BIOS such as used by some brand
names like Dell or Compaq? Perhaps someone can help more with those details.

Unfortunately this doesn't help. It's about enabling a not working APM
powerdown. I want to disable a good working ACPI powerdown.

Searching on VPOWERD.VXD, which is mentioned as the engine, I found a way
to disable powerdown in www.mdgx.com/98-4.htm, but unfortunately it
doesn't work for me .

It seems I have to learn to live with it. Thanks for helping Glee.

Yes, I know what the web page was about, but I thought it might give some clues for
reversing the action described there. Sorry to hear nothing is working for you.
What BIOS and version are you using?
