So you have no explanation of how my ISP NNTP Server CAN put ( _ ) in a
groups name?
(IOW you were posting Bull****)

Microsoft News Sarver Software is how!
Not Linux or FreeBSD News Sarver Software

microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion is not a correct name for
UseNet Sarver's
A Server can not put ( _ ) in a groups name.

Bull****, explain how my ISP carries these groups then :
(just to name some at a quick glance)

alt.alumni.Brooklyn_Tech
alt.bbc.the_net
alt.bbc.the_net.jules
alt.bbc.the_net.jules.conceited
alt.bbc.the_net.jules.conceited.little
alt.bbc.the_net.jules.conceited.little.tart

But ISP like Comcast, Roadrunner, Att, MSN and + more. Do not run a NNTP ISP
no more!

NNTP ISP ,, you pay for Hmm it's NNTP SP
NNTP Servers is not a ISP

I have Comcast ISP with it I get
Aioe SP and with it I get NNTP Servers List of groups
and by the List I get microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion

But the Software of the NNTP Servers maybe Microsoft, Linux or FreeBSD
System
( _ ) not the Linux way of running it NNTP Servers Software
But ( _ ) is a Win32 Software way of running it life,
The SP just put up the List of groups by the NNTP Software.
For SP do not make the List of groups but Publish it.
You pick from the List of groups name you like and your SP will give the
messages to you Sunny!

What part of "My ISP provides their own NNTP News Server", don't you
understand?
My ISP is Bigpond.com
NNTP setting is : News.bigpond.com (server address)
They also allow me access to their parent Co, Telstra
NNTP is: Reader.news.telstra.net
You are mis-informed, some ISP around the World still provide their
customers with a dedicated News Server.

BTW you are wrong about The ( _ ) live with it.

Check the "properties" of this message to confirm I am posting through my
ISP News Server.
(Also check my next reply using the "Telstra ISP news server)

Australasia still provide their customers with a ISP in the USA Hmm that
would be cool

You pay www.bigpond.com/internet/mybigpond for ISP that's true
And yes they may have a NSP, But that do not make them a Server
And bigpond.com pay NSP Reader.news.telstra.net for you and can be true

if they are a Server bigpond that is, may a Group on it and name it
alt.binaries.wombat
then I will say true as a Server for bigpond
and I would like to see some wombat PIC... on it

Never mind, life must go on and I believe that there will come a time when
Usenet will simply be 'dropped' by most (if not all) ISPs.

That's already happened in UK - the majority of the mainstream ISPs
(Freenet which became Wanadoo which became Orange, and several others -
I'm not sure if AOL ever had a normal NNTP newsserver) have either
dropped them altogether, or only support a limited set of newsgroups
(usually the non-text ones are the first to be dropped).

Fortunately, there are sufficient either free or paid independent
servers that it isn't a great problem. (I generally put new users onto
eternal-september, or teranews if they want binaries. But lots of people
like aioe and the Berlin one.)

I haven't lost my mind; I have a tape back-up somewhere.

It is apparent that you do not understand how Usenet and ISP work,
You have to be a Bigpond customer to access their NNTP Server.
I, like anyone else can start a new newsgroup :
Procedures exist for creating new newsgroups in other
hierarchies. The rules for creating new newsgroups in all
other hierarchies except alt are particularly detailed, and
can be found in regular postings in the newsgroup
news.announce.newusers. You can also find much relevant information
in
