Default Need to Upgrade from 98 to XP Home

I need to upgrade to XP Home in order to be able to VPN into my work
computer. The problem I am having is that I can't figure out which version
of XP Home to purchase. I've done a search on the Microsoft site & they tell
me to go buy it on Amazon or another website. The information on Amazon
seems to conflict with itself for the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
UPGRADE with SP2 - in the systems requirements it says you need to HAVE
Windows XP as your platform for this upgrade (which doesn't seem to make any
sense) and yet further down in the product details under Product Features, it
says that the eligibility for upgrade includes Windows 98. Which is it?? So
I went to another software sales website & found the exact same product (the
item number is NO9-00985) and it says it is the correct product for updating
to XP from 98. So, my question is, then, is this the correct product to
purchase for the upgrade? Or is there another one that I need to purchase?
Thanks in advance for the help!

The Amazon.com "system requirements" make no sense. That would imply that
you need this to upgrade from the original Home Edition to the one with SP2.
SP2 is a free download. The only CD versions of SP2-only that I know of come
with subscriptions like TechNet or MSDN (Microsoft programs.)

My research indicates that NO9-00985 is the one you want. Every Google
return on that number indicates the Upgrade CD you want. Unfortunately, a
search of Microsoft.com doesn't return a hit for NO9-00985 or anything
similar. Go figure.

Thanks! That's what I thought, too, but I didn't want to put down the money
& then end up with the wrong product!! BTW - I had the same problem
searching the product number on Microsoft's web site. I didn't think of
using Google...good idea! Thanks again!
