lol Never thought of that one.
Didn't you once tell me that women have to be 65 in Canada for retirement ? John has another ten years before he reaches retirement age g and as for being old at 50 trying to get any decent job here over that age is nigh on impossible, employers don't want to pay for years of experience. LOL......I think you even qualify over here for 10% off on a Wendy's Hamburger!! That's a name from the past! Wendy's have long since, I think, departed the UK. Not certain about 10% off a burger but in about 16 months I'm due a free bus pass. :-) Although always referred to as a bus pass it actually allows free travel in London on bus, tram, tube and train But it is usually 60 or 65 in Canada for *seniors*......isn't that a horrible word!! But it gets me money off a lot of stuff. And that satisfies the smidgen of Scottish genes I have! g Cheers.....Heather (and the weather here is like England.......rain, rain and more rain.....yuck) The weather's pretty yuck here as well today. -- Mike |

Yes.....we are an *equal opportunity* country. Both males and females have
to be 65 to collect the OAP. Plus we also get what is called the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) which we contribute to all our lives. I was able to get mine early, but at a reduced amount......because I was self-employed and theoretically poverty-stricken, thanks to tax write-offs (G). Ron's is much higher coz he waited till 65 (no choice on that). Getting any kind of job over here once you are *middle-aged* is tough, unless you don't mind working at McDonald's!! As you say, they won't pay for experience and a better work ethic!! I didn't realize you married a 'toy boy' (boy toy?)......well, gollee!!! Goodonya!! IIRC, Wendy's went to the wall in the very early 70's here in the UK -
followed by Wimpy's, although I think they staggered on for a few years. .....and the there came the Big Mac The only relic of the 60's fast-food outlets that spring to mind as being still extant is the Little Chef - and I think they're fast dying (at least two have tried and failed in this area in the past 15 years) -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2005, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Mike M" wrote in message ... I think I saw some of those Little Chefs when we were on those 'M' highways
and pulled into the huge gas/restaurant/washroom places. What do we call those, hmmm. Service centres?? Only see them on superhighways. We have McDonalds, Harveys, Burger King, Wendy's, (no Wimpy's.....they are American I think)......and the usual KFC, etc. I can feel my arteries clogging at the thought.....yuck!! But we do like Wendy's. Heather "Noel Paton" wrote in message ... lol Only by 5 1/2 years he was 55 in January and I was 61 in August.
Retirement for men at the moment is 65 and 60 for women but that is going to change so women will have to be 65, I timed it right g Joan Heather wrote: I didn't realize you married a 'toy boy' (boy toy?)......well, gollee!!! Goodonya!! XX Heather |

I was going in Wendy's in Oxford Street or thereabouts at least up to the
late '70's, Noel. I thought Wendy's was the only decent burger chain we ever had. But the Brits were by and large still eating stodge, and veg boiled to tasteless, nutritionless mush in those days. Now, by and large, they're eating MacDonald's and chocolate, of course. Shane "Noel Paton" wrote in message ...
