Default strange startup message?

When booting the Windows 98me machine I get the following message :
Memory_card on 'Npidc9e7a' (z

What does this mean? I don't have any memory card or a Z drive. It seems to
happen intermittently. When it does occur I seem to lose access to my
network printer and I get the the following message: Unable to find network
name in folder

Any answers out there?

Here's an educated guess:

Your printer has a built-in memory card reader, and your computer (is
it running Windows 98 or Windows Me?) is trying to map a network drive
(drive letter Z) to the memory card reader. When the printer is
inaccessible, the mapping fails, so you get the strange startup
message.

Go to My Computer. If there's a network drive Z there, right-click
and disconnect it.
