Default Need step-by-step to copy CABS folder onto hard drive after format

Due to spyware infiltration, had to reformat hard drive & reinstall Windows
98.

After doing this, I now cannot reinstall most hardware (e.g., scanner,
digital camera) due to no access to drivers. Repair shop tells me I must get
instructions on how to copy the Windows 98 CABS folder onto hard drive (I'm
told this entails searching for and plucking certain individual files off the
98 install disc). They say I can then use this CABS folder in "Browse" when
installing hardware and searching for drivers.

Can you provide step-by-step instructions for copying the Windows 98 CABS
folder onto my hard drive? Thank you.

If you can access the CAB files on the CD to copy them to the hard drive,
then what stops you from accessing them from the CD when you try to install
drivers?

Don't copy individual files - just find the folder they are in on the CD and
copy the whole folder to a location on the hard drive (just drag and drop in
Explorer).

With Windows Explorer copy the Win98 folder on the CD then paste to
C:\ on your HDD. Point to that folder by using "Browse" or "Have
Disk" when installs need drivers. The cab files are in that folder
and there are dozens of them. Setup.exe is also in that folder and
Windows can be installed from there without the CD.

In some cases you will need to point to the C:\WINDOWS\INF folder.
