Default safe to delete content of temp folder?

Running out of space on the hard drive - Win 98.
Can I safely delete the contents of the temp folder as I
see that it's containing approx 4 GB of info?
I've tried to look at the info and see names of files that
I don't recognize and am unable to open and look at.

Some advice please.

Thanks,

Yes, then empty recycle bin and reboot.

Reboot and then delete everything in the temp folder. I would hold down the
shift key while deleting so that your recycle bin is not filled up. If a
file is still in use, Windows will tell you that it cannot be deleted. If
you continue to get a notice after rebooting again, something may be going
on and you should post back with details.

Don't forget to dump the files in your Temporary Internet File folder
either. Once done with all deletions, run defrag.
