PNP Device with Error Code 22
After attempting to install an Epson R300 printer which is
a USB stand-alone or with PC type, I received a General Protection Fault related to one of it's drivers. After rebooting, when I looked in system tools, system information, components, problem devices, the printer turned up an error code 11 and the ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ steering with an ACPI PNP device gave an error code 22. After uninstalling all printer files, and disconnecting it from the PC, the error 11 disappeared. However, the ACPI PNP error remains. (Before attempting to install the Epson printer, I had a Canon i860 connected on the same port and it worked fine.) The USB ports no longer work for printing devices. I was able to plug a USB external modem in and it worked. But trying to reinstall the Canon printer...it cannot install the print port. I am at a loss for how to clear up the problem. The USB ports are 2.0. The other USB 1.0 ports are fine. |

PNP Device with Error Code 22
Yes, I tried system restore at a point before when the
Canon printer was working. The Norton Antivirus was not able to load the virus protection. There were other issues and the system was unstable. Reverted the system restore. Is the problem hardware or software? Do I have to remove the USB hub from the Device Manager and reboot? Something isn't right somewhere! -----Original Message----- The Code 22 error you are seeing should not be preventing you using your USB ports. Since you are apparently trying to reinstall your Canon printer why not try using system restore to roll your system back to before you removed it although I would only do this if in the last few days. Error Code 22: See MS KB 272291 - "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering" Problem Device Entry in System Information Tool" (http://support.microsoft.com? kbid=272291) where you will find it stated that what you are seeing is "by design". This problem is often the result of having changed the layout of your PCI cards or following the removal of a card. Forget about this "error" as it is unlikely to have an effect and is simply indicating that the place holder previously used is no longer required. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Marcia wrote: After attempting to install an Epson R300 printer which is a USB stand-alone or with PC type, I received a General Protection Fault related to one of it's drivers. Ah, you use Symantec malware with Win Me. I'm sorry but then it is no surprise
that you are experiencing problems. Symantec software is well known for destroying systems running Win Me. -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Marcia wrote: Yes, I tried system restore at a point before when the Canon printer was working.
