Computer searching for GMT.exe shortcut upon startup
Why would my computer start searching for GMT.exe during startup? The error
message says "The item GMT.exe that this shortcut points to has been changed or moved. The nearest match, based on size, date and type, is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSINFO\MSINFO32.exe. Do you want this shortcut to point to this item?" I always click "no." This started when I recently downloaded SypwareGuard and when the computer restarted to complete the installation, it immediately shut down. I rebooted, and when it came back up it was in what looked like safe mode, but wasn't. By that, I mean that all icons/fonts were very big and it wouldn't let me reset the resolution. I immediately uninstalled SpywareGuard and then went into scanreg \restore and went back to a date before the install. This fixed most everything but now it searches for this file upon startup. I don't know what the file is, but looks like something that was with Gator. I uninstalled Gator about 2 months ago. What is this file and what can I do to get rid of this situation? Thanks so much for any/all help. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.708 / Virus Database: 464 - Release Date: 6/18/04 |
