In article , kurttrail wrote: Why should I argue for either top posting or bottom posting, when I'm been argueing for tolerance of both? And that's what you nuts can't see. I'm not debating: Top v. Bottom posting. And I'm the only one that has been arguing with reason. It's the forces of intolerance that are beyond reason. And you have a perfectly reasonable view but there is a convention on the Acorn news groups not to top post. We like that convention and prefer others coming into the group to respect that convention. It is as simple as that. Except it was you guys that came to us, not us coming to you. So it should be ya'll respecting our convention of generally tolerating both top and bottom posting. When I post to other groups I read them for a while, try to ascertain what conventions are used and "go with the flow" Sorry, but I didn't have that luxury, thanks to your proctologist goat announcing his snitching abilities. Most of the Acorn groups are unmoderated in the strict sense of the word but one or two individuals, like Druck, do step in when they feel it necessary to remind people of the conventions and the charter. And I'd be the one in my group to step in and tell someone like Druck to shove it up his ass, and worry about things that he actually has some control over, like HIS OWN ACTIONS! Generally speaking their comments are accepted and the huge amount of knowledge, technical support and help they give others here makes them highly respected. I know all newsgroups are public and should not be regarded as some sort of "club", with rules which /must/ be obeyed, but the Acorn community, at least as far as active usenet members is concerned is relatively small and it is like belonging to club. All are welcome to post here but we do like people to treat us and our conventions with respect and they in return will be treated with respect. Well when you group invades other groups, like with this thread, you shouldn't go and start a top v. bottom posting war on top of it. It is regretted by the majority here that the actions of one rather foolish individual have caused all this aggravation, crossposting (which is frowned upon) and arguing. I can understand why ya'll frown upon cross-posting. From all the intolerance I've seen today, ya'll should stay put in your bunker. Crossposting myself, I wish to offer my apologies to all who have been dragged into this row by said individual and those who have been offended unnecessarily by the subsequent row over top posting. Apologies are unnecessary, and at this point very suspect. Just gather up your nuts, and crawl back to your squirrel hole. Quite frankly, I have yet to figure out which group of you nuts are more reprehensible. The bottom posting NetNazis or you effeminate apologists of the NetNazis, feigning civility the whole way. I am sure others would wish the same. Hell, I ain't sure that it is even your wish. Just drop it. As long as ya'll try to defend or apologize for your groups intolerance of others, I'll keep reeming ya'll a new a**hole. "Cause and effect." -- Peace! Then read it again and the current page. Bear in mind we have proper news readers that colour the quoted text differently (like pegasus mail does). So does my newsreader OE with Quotefix. SO?! Then let's teach these morons who are too lazy or too stooooopid or both, the way it's always been done, instead of perpetuating the idiocy. snip incoherent inanities Top posters are not morons, they are just reply to posts differently than bottom posters. Exactly...they're morons. Having trouble working that dictionary? Reading a properly trimmed and interleaved message is far more efficient than having to scroll down to find out WTF is being referred to. Goody for you that you are of that opinion. Other people's mileage may vary from yours! Nazi germany was the model of efficiency. Go build yourself a time machine and go back to a time and a society that would be more compatible with your advocacy of conformity! That was a poor excuse to use for this kind of thing. Top-posting is just plain laziness and stupidity and/or a worthless newsreader, all combined into one moronic entity, plastering it's pathetic butt in front of an electronic machine they have no clue how to use nor the mind-power to care to want to. Hmm! That is your personal opinion, that has no basis in fact. Which part, oh mindless one...the part about your use of a pitiful excuse or about the laziness? Did the thought ever pass into coherence to actually debate why you used such a worthless excuse? Maybe people should just write books, or anything other written material, by just purchasing a monkey and letting it bang at the keyboard. Hell, I'm sure the monkey would be more reasonable than you. Another worthless attempt to cover having to try and actually attempt to reply to what was posted. 'Reasonable', would be if you emptied your drool bowl and asked someone to read something to you more substantive than 'Jack and Jill'. Why have a written language that is used in a standard way to be read and written and information gotten from it, when the monkey way will work just fine, according to your nazi germany confomation theory? If the monkey wants to post to CSAM, more power to them! Then at least there'd be one voice of reason coming out of CSAM. More inanities and drivel, bringing in CSAM when it wasn't mentioned anywhere in this particular page of quotes and replies. Maybe it's your best lame attempt to draw away from having to actually debate the whole argument with what little common sense you can muster. You're better at sticking to the M$ activation thing, at least you're using fact and showing semblances of reasonable thought to your arguments with it than you are here. -- Linux: An OS with 1000 possibilities...not 1000 vulnerabilities. |
