Waterloo eh? What's this a day trip to gay Paris? You could always drop
off a cup if Costa's any good as I'm only about a mile away. :-)

Right. These days it's espresso for me - must get my own machine some

drop at Costa.

There's something deeply ironic in swapping a less safe OS version for
a less fixable OS version, which is otherwise the case with +SP2.

You won't hear any arguments about that from this direction Chris. :-)

Having recently been bitten, but fortunately not too badly, by an NTFS
problem that I could only fix by eventually deleting the partition/volume
and starting again, like yourself I find the wonders of NTFS less than
wonderful as well. The problem being that a directory had got entwined
with four small text files contained in the directory and no tool would
touch it so had to pull off the 80GB of data in the volume across the LAN
and even with just that one directory and the four entangled files was
still unable to fix the problem until I deleted the partition and added it
back in again.

When will OEM/DSP SP2 hit the streets? New stock is still SP1a :-p

You're probably going to know the answer to that long before I ever do.

Nice; looks do-able...

If you wish to customise the CD by adding PID, drivers, correct time
zone,

http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?act...showarticle=49

This however requires the .net framework to be installed on the PC
making the slipstream CD

Much of that one can do via an "answer file", without .NET etc. - and
as that can run arb commands after XP's installed, you could use that
to chain into the SP's .exe

snip

This is so essential; is there a URL that makes this "easy"?

Does it mean CD-booted Recovery Console will work too?

Yes

That's a goodie ;-)

And I'm going to be buying an OEM (or any other if it comes to that)
version when? vbg Thanks for that info. Hopefully next time I need to
buy a copy at the CS it will be an integrated SP2 build.

I've only just blown $120 at the CD buying a copy of Office 2003 and other
bibs and bobs so perhaps September 2005 before I lose those bucks?

Well, hopefully I may be able to provide in the not-so-distant future, if
you feel the need..

At the CD should, of course, have read C.S. which hopefully you will
understand.

Presence of some particular commercial malware may cause AdAware to
lock up. VX2 comes to mind there.

Hi Chris,
CWS - Cool Web Search does this to Ad-aware, SpyBot and even CW Shredder.
Some of this malware disallows the anti-spyware apps *not* to run.
Fairly drastic measures need to be taken under those circumstances, although
it isn't reported too often, thankfully.

Cheers,
Silj

Shouldn't that be *gay Paree*, Mike?

Anyhow, no, I'm nipping down to Basingstoke to work on my Pater's motor. I
expect to get very wet in the process!

When I was living in Basingstoke I often used to ride in on the A3, through
to Elephant and Castle and over Westminster Bridge. Are you along that
route?

Yes but I though the less knowledgeable pedants out there might think I
couldn't spell. g

My in-laws were from that area. Originally Winklebury until they sold out
when Basingstoke started to expand and then moved to Hook where my
mother-in-law still lives.

Just down the Camberwell New Road from The Oval.

Enjoy your trip.
