"Shane" wrote in message ... Same here, Sced.....it is sitting beside me yelling to be put on here. I really must do so......but my best personality trait is *procrastination*, grin. I am going to unload a bunch of my mp3's to CD's and then take the plunge. I think all the hardware is OK now that I put new nVidia drivers on. It seems like such a Herculean Undertaking tho...... That's funny, Figgs, cos when you update to SP2 it'll put it's own NVidia drivers on there anyway! If you had a slipstreamed SP2 cd you wouldn't have needed to touch the drivers in the first place. SOBBING on my keyboard!! You have no idea what I went thru putting those durned drivers on!!!!! Mike helped me out, but I still had problems. You should both get an SP2 cd (cover discs or probably at the check out of your major computer store) ready for when you get round to the XP installation. What in heck does *slipstream* mean?? And I will get the CD when the time comes. XX Figgs Shane |

(Oops...forgot to mail this. Anyway, I vented on Lavasoft's Forum, not that
it will do any good, grin......but I feel better!!) -------------------------- Thanks, Silj........I will go over there and see what's what. And I am glad (sorry) to hear that it is not just me that is having a problem.....or that it is just WinME. Don't tell Noel, but I may have been doing something innocuous (big word of the week, grin) while running AdAware, but certainly nothing more than perhaps looking at email. I can do that with Spybot, ahem!! I will probably go back to 1.03.....if I do go back. XX Figgs "siljaline" wrote in message ... "heirloom" wrote: Same here, Figgs. Slipstream in this case means that XP SP2 has been integrated into the XP
image on the original disk meaning that if you install using a slipstream copy you go straight to having SP2 installed. If needs be I can mail you a copy since for some odd reason I know you have a genuine copy of XP Home complete with PID sitting there. vbg -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP [2001-2004] Heather wrote: What in heck does *slipstream* mean?? Heather, I hate to see you suffer like this. Have you tried 'total' unininstall and then reinstalling the thing from scratch? If you did and it didn't bring any results, how about checking inside your program for a hidden virus, a trojan or whatever? There has to be a plausible solution for this problem. In the meanwhile, did you already get rid of Adaware SE? If so, why not try it one more time for heaven's sake? Be a good sport. Harry old and quite confident. "Heather" wrote in message ... I am so fed up with the damn thing freezing up on me (usually about 600 files in) that I have now removed it totally and will just stick with Spybot. 1.04 was awful and 1.03 froze a time or two......so whatever they are doing, they ain't doing it right (as the Loon would say). Give me back the old, reliable version 6.xxx!! And if you want me to post this on Lavasoft Forum, you betcha I will!!!! (G) Figgs |

I have only run "Smart System" and Custom scans to date. No problems as yet. I'm still on ME but, XP Home is in the box waiting for me to make hardware changes before upgrading. Reading the XP groups is giving me some tremors though. I might need a "two--------------finger' martini before I take the leap. Just make sure you put SP2 on *immediately* after you install XP, then programs, then devices and you shouldn't have any problems. Alias |

I've tried SE 1.05 on two desk tops and one laptop with 98SE and all of them burp. One had just had a clean install of 98SE and AdAware still took ages to load. I have had no problem with XP Home or Pro; in fact, it seems to be made for XP :-) Alias "Heather" wrote in message ... What in heck does *slipstream* mean?? And I will get the CD when the time
comes. As Mike says, re the slipstream question. And I think you should take him up on his offer. If you install SP1 you'll have probably two dozen Critical and Security updates awaiting you at WU. If you install SP2 you should be pretty-much ready to roll. Shane |

Personally I can only speak for windows ME, Alias. Ad-Aware never gave me any trouble whatsoever, which of course does not mean it can't be troublesome to other machines with the same OS. But my contention would be, that the program is most likely not at fault. On the other hand, I could be wrong too. Hopefully Heather will find a fix. Harry, old and faithful.
