Default Problem accessing Websites over a secure connection

When I acces a site which displays "you are about to view
pages over a secure connection" and I click OK nothing
happens. Depending on the site I may get a browser bar
part way accross the screen or just the rotating IE logo
but the site does not respond back to me. I have all the
latest Microsoft fixes for ME and all ME products. IE is
Version 6.0.2800.1106. ME is version 4.90.3000. My
Internet access is via Sprint DSL.
