icon left from uninstalled program won't delete
My husband is running 98SE on his computer.
br He once had an Olympus digi cam, but didn't like it so he uninstalled the software and everything. However, when "My Computer" is viewed in Windows Explorer or by opening "My Computer" directly from the desktop, there is a remainder of the software that can't be deleted. It is supposed to be a folder icon to "My Digital Camera". The folder icon is replaced by the page icon for an unknown file type. When he clicks on it, nothing happens. The computer just beeps. We can't delete it. Does anyone have any ideas???? |

icon left from uninstalled program won't delete
Several apps have been known to leave a "folder" in My Computer after
uninstalling. It is a NameSpace item. Go to REGEDIT.EXE and the CLSID of the icon will be under the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\explorer\mycomputer\NameSpace\ Your strange item should be in this area and be obvious. Delete the item when you are sure. It is a good idea to export the ....\NameSpace\ key to a temp.reg file first, in case of errors Get in touch if you need detailed help. ....Alan -- Alan Edwards, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/index.html In microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion, "Karla" wrote: My husband is running 98SE on his computer. br He once had an Olympus digi cam, but didn't like it so he uninstalled the software and everything.
