Windows 98 starts up when my telephone rings. How do I
change this setting

Access BIOS setup and look for a 'Wake on ring' option or similar in the
configuration section. BIOS setup is usually accessed by pressing a special
key such as DEL or ESC when the memory count ticks over immediately after
power-on - the key to use should be displayed on screen.
