Default Help! I messed up my net config

I'm a bit useless at this computer stuff but I keep trying.
I set out to give my Win98SE a static LAN IP but the document I was
working from was for a specialist ISP setup that I don't have, so Half
way through I was left floundering.
I ended up trying to set the config back to how it was originally but
clumsily, I managed to uninstall a couple of TCP/IP components and now
I can't connect to the Internet from this computer.
There were 3 TCP/IP items in the list originally One for the Linksys
ethernet adapter that is still there and two for TCP/IP Dial Up
adapter items, one of them associated with VPN
The 2 Dial Up Adapter components are gone and when I went to reinstall
them I couldn't find any options that looked quite the same.
Can anyone please tell me how to get them back?

Via Network
enable one client e.g. MS client logon
enable one adapter: Dial Up Adapter is listed
under Manufacturer = Microsoft.
