Hi there, been trying to make a startup disc for when
system won't start. The above message appears and says it
is unable to continue, also get/have got the same
messagewith '10.sys' in place of autobat. Anyone got any
ideas why. Recently got the rescue disks out and restored
PC to factory settings, hence prompted me to make a start
up disk. Have done win updates.

Does the message say anything more other than giving the path to the file such
as being unable to find a copy of the file?

When you use Add/Remove Programs | Startup Disk to create a boot floppy it
assembles the required files in a folder named C:\WINEBDO.400 the contents of
which it then copies to the floppy once it has assembled all of the required
files after which it deletes the folder.

If the message is saying that it cannot find either autoexec.bat or io.sys
then point the applet towards the folder containing the file BASE2.CAB which
is usually either C:\windows\options\cabs or c:\windows\options\install.

Mike, I looked at it again and it actually says "error
while reading winebdo.400\edb\10.sys and to try another
floppy, have done so with my few but will buy new ones
tomorrow and try again. PS It always gets to the same
point, ie 49% and then the message comes.
